Who should take AB-900?

AB-900 is aimed at people who support, secure and protect an AI-enabled Microsoft 365 environment. It suits administrators and IT professionals who are familiar with Microsoft 365 core services, security, identity and access, data protection and governance, along with Microsoft 365 Copilot and agents, and who use admin centres such as Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Microsoft Entra and Microsoft Purview.

How to prepare for AB-900?

Combine the free Microsoft Learn learning path and the official skills measured study guide with hands-on practice in the Microsoft 365 admin centres, then confirm your readiness with a reputable practice test. Weight your study toward data protection and governance for Microsoft 365 and Copilot (about 35–40 percent), including Microsoft Purview, DSPM for AI, Copilot data risks and SharePoint oversharing. Also cover core Microsoft 365 objects and security (about 30–35 percent) and basic Copilot and agent admin tasks such as licensing, Researcher and Analyst use cases, agent access, approval and monitoring (about 25–30 percent). How to register for the AB-900 exam?

You book the exam from the official Microsoft certification page, which schedules it through Pearson VUE (students and educators can also schedule through Certiport). You can sit it online with remote proctoring from home or at a test centre. Pick the date and delivery option that suits you when you register.

What is the retake policy if I fail AB-900?

If you don't pass on your first attempt, you must wait 24 hours before retaking. After a second failure you must wait 14 days, with the same 14-day wait before each further attempt. You may take the exam a maximum of five times within a 12-month period, and the exam fee applies to each attempt.
