Microsoft has moved Dynamics 365 credentials to a job-role model. After the 2025–2026 retirements, the set of bookable exams is narrower and more clearly split between functional consultants, developers, and solution architects. The Dynamics 365 training hub and the role map still list several credentials that the retired-exams list has already withdrawn.

A Microsoft Dynamics 365 certification is a role-based Microsoft credential for work in one or more Dynamics 365 applications. Microsoft organises these credentials around job roles rather than treating Dynamics 365 as a single product exam. The role map is written both for people new to the platform and for role-specific paths across the apps, grouping credentials under functional consultants, solution architects, business users, business analysts, and developers.

Passing an exam is not always the same as earning the full certification. A Microsoft Learn moderator noted that the AB-100 exam is only one part of the Agentic AI Business Solutions Architect credential; candidates must also hold one of the listed prerequisite associate certifications. You can still book associate exams that do not appear on the retired-exams list and that carry no retired warning on their credential pages. The current live set covers Finance, Supply Chain Management, Customer Service, finance-and-operations development, and both Business Central credentials (functional and developer).

After an exam retires you cannot sit it or earn the associated certification. The official retired-exams list records these exams as already withdrawn:

PL-200 is scheduled to retire on 31 August 2026. The Sales and Contact Center AB exams that Microsoft named as related paths still carried beta language on their credential pages at the time of writing.

The live consultant associates certifications are Finance, Supply Chain Management, Customer Service, and Business Central. Microsoft describes the Finance associate as the credential for analysing business requirements and translating them into processes inside Dynamics 365 Finance. The Supply Chain associate exam tests design and configuration of Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management. Customer Service retains a live exam covering case management, representative experience and routing, and extension of the application. The Business Central functional associate exam covers core configuration, company setup, data migration, and the main financial and operational modules, including Copilot capabilities.

Developers have two current associates. The finance-and-operations developer exam measures implementation and extension of those apps with X++, reports, APIs, testing, and application lifecycle management. The Business Central developer exam is aimed at people who design, develop, test, and maintain solutions built on Business Central.

For solution architects the current expert path is the Agentic AI Business Solutions Architect (AB-100). You earn it by passing AB-100 and holding one of the qualifying associate certifications listed on the credential page. The role map still names Field Service, Customer Experience Analyst, Supply Chain expert, Finance and Operations architect, Power Platform Solution Architect Expert, and Power Automate RPA Developer; all of those exams appear on the retired-exams list. Gretchen LaBelle stated that no new certification is planned for MB-700 and that AB-100 is the flagship expert-level credential, while noting it is not a direct replacement for the retiring expert exams.

MB-280 is the retired Customer Experience Analyst exam. AB-210 is the related Dynamics 365 Sales AI Consultant Associate that Microsoft named for that retirement path.

The Customer Experience Analyst credential page states that both the certification and its renewal assessment are retired. Gretchen LaBelle wrote that candidates must pass the new exam to earn the new certification because the two exams do not measure the same skill sets. The AB-100 page continues to list MB-280 among the possible associate prerequisites for the expert credential.

The Sales AI Consultant page describes the role as designing and configuring AI-enhanced sales solutions that use Dynamics 365 Sales, Copilot in Dynamics 365 Sales, and agent capabilities across the lead-to-cash process. Gretchen LaBelle wrote that AB-210 was expected to go live in June 2026, in The AI job boom continues. Liberty Munson wrote that the exam was in beta and to stay tuned for general availability in July 2026, in New Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Sales AI Consultant Associate Certification. The credential page still described a beta exam and noted that beta exams are not scored immediately.

what happened to the dynamics 365 fundamentals exams

Microsoft retired both Dynamics 365 fundamentals exams on 31 December 2025: MB-910 (CRM) and MB-920 (ERP). Both credential pages now state that the certification is retired.

Gretchen LaBelle confirmed that any already-earned Dynamics 365 Fundamentals (CRM), Dynamics 365 Fundamentals (ERP), or Microsoft 365 Fundamentals credential remains on the Microsoft Learn transcript and that Fundamentals certifications do not expire. You cannot sit MB-910 or MB-920 after that December date. Power Platform Fundamentals (PL-900) is a separate exam; the same announcement stated that PL-900 is being updated rather than retired, with training and courseware updates scheduled for June 2026 and minor exam changes planned at the same time. After the MB-280 retirement, the named path for Dynamics 365 Sales work is AB-210. For Contact Center work the named path is AB-250. For the expert architect route across Dynamics 365 and agents you take AB-100 together with one current associate from the list on that credential page.

The Contact Center AI Engineer page describes the role as designing, implementing, and supporting AI-powered contact-centre solutions that use Dynamics 365 Contact Center and service-oriented autonomous agents. Announcements placed AB-250 beta and training in June 2026 with expected general availability in August 2026. The page still noted that the practice assessment was not yet available and that practice assessments usually appear within eight weeks of an exam leaving beta.

AB-900 is the Microsoft 365 Certified: Copilot and Agent Administration Fundamentals credential. It is a beginner-level Microsoft 365 exam aimed at people familiar with Microsoft 365, Copilot, agents, Entra, and Purview; it is not a Dynamics 365 application exam.
